In the meantime, I wanted to post a couple pics of Sam's Halloween costume. The poor kid was sick this week. I picked him up from daycare with a fever and an on-and-off bloody nose on Tuesday. Since this is the second time he's had a day of draining blood out of his face in the last month, I figured I better get him into the doctor. Turns out he has a sinus infection most likely caused by some viral throat thing, in turn irritating the blood vessels in his nose...hence the bleeding.
And now I'm sure some of you are wondering how Halloween plays into all this. Well, on the way home from the pediatricians' office, we stopped at Walgreens to fill his prescription. I decided I wanted to get him started on the antibiotic as soon as possible, so I told the pharmacist that I would wait in the store instead of coming back later to pick it up. To this she replied, "It will be about 20 minutes." And my initial reaction was: great...and I'm supposed to kill 20 minutes in Walgreens with a sick kid?
So, we decided to go look in the Halloween aisle. We spent several minutes discussing why that scary man was there and what exactly his function could be once Halloween finally rolls around. We moved on to the glow sticks, then the fake green fingernails. We counted the witches. Then, we noticed the costumes at the end of the aisle. Sam ran over way too excitedly and I walked over dreading the moment he would ask to be Spiderman or Batman as he is not allowed to watch those shows but has been picking up all sorts of tidbits from them from school friends. Thankfully, he didn't even notice the superhero costumes because he was too distracted by a great fireman costume. And the best part? It was $12.99! Yay! We immediately snatched it up and he wore the hat out of the store and modeled the whole ensemble for me when we got home.

Grace arrived home with Daddy a little later and was a bit jealous of Sam's costume. She and I made a trip to Meijer after dinner where she picked out a lady bug (it was a tough, nailbiting decision between that and a bumble bee). I have yet to get a picture of her in it, but I think she'll be adorable. But, this year definitely won't measure up to last year...I really don't know if I'll ever come up with anything that great again even if they did let me choose their costumes...those kids and their darn opinions they've formed...
